Who We are

Since our establishment in 2008, Sparkfolios has been on a transformative journey, driven by a vision to revolutionise global rewards, recognition, performance, sales compensation and incentive tools on offer in the market.

Our mission has always been to empower three key stakeholders: employees, companies, and shareholders. We strive to achieve this by motivating employees, enhancing company performance, and increasing shareholder value by implementing various rewards and recognition programs.

We noticed a significant change in our customer base’s needs, especially from a digital transformation point of view. This led to the development of our easy-to-use online rewards, recognition, performance, sales compensation, and incentive platform.

Since then, our vision has continued to expand and encompass the need for a more integrated and comprehensive suite of tools to ignite people’s performance within corporations. In this way, we have tailored our sustainable technology supported by people to maximise staff engagement and drive people’s performance.

In the past 12 months, Sparkfolios has processed 100,000 reward transactions, facilitated over 800,000 logins, celebrated more than 125,000 recognition events, served over 220,000 users and delivered R40 million in reward value.

As a South African Chartered Accountant, Rian earned his CA(SA) qualification in Cape Town after completing his articles with Deloitte & Touche. With over twenty years of experience in finance roles across various financial corporations, he co-founded Sparkfolios in 2008. At Sparkfolios, he leads the sales compensation and incentives team, which focuses on developing innovative strategies that continue to drive people performance for our clients.

Hendrik is a South African chartered accountant whose career began when he established his own professional practice, which was later incorporated into a larger audit firm where he became a partner. Following this, he served as the Financial Executive at Old Mutual South Africa, overseeing one of the country’s largest sales distribution forces. In 2008, Hendrik co-founded Sparkfolios with Rian. Over the years, the business has grown to include a diverse, multidisciplinary team. Hendrik’s role at Sparkfolios centres around developing and supporting the online tool suite, which offers clients plug-and-play solutions to drive employee performance.

Rudi’s journey in IT began early, sparked by a passion for programming that he had nurtured since primary school. After gaining experience in the industry, he ventured into freelancing and established his small development company in the early 2000s. While he enjoyed coding, his true passion was crafting solutions tailored to clients’ needs. After collaborating with Hendrik and Rian on various projects, Rudi joined the Sparkfolios team.
